Feedback notes: Like it? Don't like it? Spelling or Grammar errors? Please let me know.
Warnings: Spoilers for "Infernal Serpent." Brief mentions of child abuse.
Notes: This isn't a drabble and a vignette. I guess it is more of a snippet. There's no real plot, but there are spoilers for "Infernal Serpent," so beware. Also, it may not make sense, seeing as how I just wrote it a minute ago. Carpe momentum.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inspector Morse. I am writing this for fun, not profit.

Morse sat in the corner of the room, staring into his ale glass. There were very few people in the pub at that late of an hour with another work day in eight hours. A couple had their heads together, chatting quietly, and a young man was at the bar, lugging down single malt.

Every so often, Morse would rub the bridge of his nose with his two fingers, a gesture of which he was mostly unaware.

"Why didn't I see it sooner?" he said to himself.

The signs had all been there. The girl's attitude to the Master and his simple wife, the gardener's missing daughter, and his own instant detestation.

Morse had disliked him on the spot. Oh, had he wanted to leave the man's presence as soon as he could. The Master had reminded him of his own uncle.

Morse shuddered.
